I’ve been using the K.I.S.S. principle a lot these days. Although I can’t do anything about what’s happenings in this country and the world, when I find myself slipping into despair, I pucker up to kiss these troubles away. I use the K.I.S.S. principle–Keep It Simple Stupid–and I focus on using simple tools in my emotional toolbox. Here are a few:

Stop! Look! Listen! The world is full of beautiful things to appreciate if I l pay attention.

Stop to smell the roses! My favorite rose, Cecile Brunner, is blooming right out side my kitchen door and over my kitchen sink window. The fragrant scent brings such joy. A very old variety, it is often found on century-old homes. (You can see it in the recipe photo).

This, too, shall pass, and no one lives forever.

Here’s additional easy sayings to remember when your emotional thermostat is rising:

Pause when agitated

Easy does it

Live and let live

One day at a time

HALT = don’t get too Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired

Your worth should never depend on another person’s opinion

If you do what you always did, you’ll get what you always got

Feelings are not facts

How important is it
